Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 11, 2026
Nestward is designed to keep your information on your own devices. We (the developer) do not run servers that collect your personal data, and we cannot see your trips, location, journal, or ratings.
The short version
- Your trips, journal entries, ratings, and packing lists are stored on your device and in your own private iCloud account. We have no access to them.
- Your location never leaves your device. It is used only to show ETAs and to check off stops as you arrive.
- We do not sell your data, show third-party ads, or use tracking SDKs.
What the app uses, and why
Location
With your permission, Nestward uses your location to show distance and ETA to nearby stops and to automatically check off itinerary stops as you arrive (geofences), including on your Lock Screen during a trip. This processing happens on your device. Your location is not transmitted to us or to any third party.
iCloud (CloudKit)
Your trip data syncs across your own Apple devices through your private iCloud account. This is handled by Apple; the data lives in your iCloud, not on our servers, and is not accessible to us. See Apple's privacy policy for how iCloud handles data.
Notifications
If you allow them, Nestward schedules local "time to head out" reminders on your device. These are generated and delivered locally; no push server is involved.
Information sent to third parties
To provide its features, the app sends limited, non-identifying requests to:
- National Park Service (nps.gov): to fetch park and points-of-interest information.
- Apple Maps / MapKit: for place search, maps, and directions.
- Apple WeatherKit: for per-day forecasts (a trip's location is sent to Apple to return weather).
- Wikipedia: to fetch photos for places, by name.
- Booking partners: only if you tap a "Find a place to stay" link, which opens a lodging search in your browser. We may earn an affiliate commission on bookings made through these links, at no additional cost to you.
These requests are the standard, technical means of delivering the feature you asked for. We do not attach your identity to them, and we do not receive your personal data back from them.
Analytics
The Nestward app includes no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. This website (nestward.netlify.app) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first, aggregate measurement tool that uses no cookies and does not track or fingerprint individual visitors. It simply counts page views and referrers so we can tell which guides are useful. No personal data is collected, and nothing follows you around the web.
Children
Nestward is a family travel app rated 4+. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Trip content stays in your private iCloud.
Your choices
- You can deny or revoke Location and Notifications permission anytime in iOS Settings; the app still works (you'll lose auto check-in and reminders).
- Deleting the app, and removing its data from iCloud (Settings → your name → iCloud), removes your trip data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and post the new version on this page.
